Gap-toothed little boy, showing me a crayon rendering of his family home, "This is my room, this is the baby's room, this is my mom's room."
Then, pointing below the green spiky grass, "And this is my dad's room. He has his own room in the basement. It has a brown rug."
-----------------------------------------
Me, helping a little cutie shop for valentines at the school store, "Ok. You have one for your mom, one for your dad and one for your aunt. Now, your list says you need to buy one more. For your grandpa."
Li'l Cutie: "I don't think he wants a valentine. He's dead."
-----------------------------------------
Precocious kid wearing Star Wars tee, "My mom used to have a job. Now she is retired. She doesn't do anything."
Pink-Headband Girl sitting across table, "Yeah. My mom doesn't do anything either. Except go shopping."

Scary food for thought: What do the twins say when I'm not there?

Love this! I knew a little girl who said "my dad doesn't live at our house anymore, he lives at a hotel." Nice!!! I can only imagine what your kids say/have said to the adults they come in contact with.
I wonder why Grandpa was on the list in the first place?
Linsey--We discussed. She had two grandpas. One was dead. One needed a valentine.
Oh I would LOVE to have a little recorder on Maddie while she is at Kindergarten! I hope she only says good things.
Kids are too cute! From the mouths of babes!
This is definitely a case where ignorance is bliss. Better not to know what gets shared :).
Micah once took a picture of me to show and tell and announced: My mom has really good breasts for babies. (Actually, I loved it.)
Um Ya.
I taught the 4 year olds in Church.
I know A LOT about my ward... haha. :)
You know those twinkies of yours give the best vignettes. They say all kinds of wonderful in FRONT of you. Just imagine what they say when you're not there.
Yeah...it is probably better that I don't know what my kids think I do all day.
I loved this. I love all the things kids say. Interesting about the Dad's room in the basement.
I think "out of the mouth of babes" comments are what I am looking forward most to with Carter. If he's like his parents at all, they are going to have quite a ride!
Exactly! I am wondering if the dad's brown carpeted room is his office...
I live in fear of what my kids say when they are away at school. This is priceless! Thanks for the smile today.
I remember when the twinkies were at my house when you were out of town, Sam said "My mom is out of town, so my dad is in charge now."
Made me laugh.
