December Object Lesson

If the Lord can make a snowflake;
intricately shaped, perfectly symmetrical,
glistening sharp and cool.
And if he can smile as crystalline creation
floats from his fingers,
watching as his handiwork
lands in a landfill
or melts into a mud puddle,
Then maybe I can ignore sticky fingerprints on stainless steel
and toothpaste in the sink
and smile at muddy footprints on the floor.

I needed this today as we had church canceled and school tomorrow due to the snow. And you should see the kids' bathroom sink. Covered in toothpaste!

I am tellin' you what. There is nothing that drives me crazier that all that toothpaste! I guess I can work on letting it go!

Lovely comparison, we often need to "flip the coin" to see the other side!

but don't forget god also give us repentance... which is sort of the same thing as cleaning up your own toothpaste and muddy footprints.

right? i mean, sure he helps us out with the "salvation" aspect of it, but the nitty-gritty clean-up part? that's on us.

so give your kids some lysol and get the repentance wheel rolling!

Reminds me of Pres. Monson's talk last conference on "Finding Joy in the Journey."

Very impressive. Using crystalline in a sentence...wow!!!
You never fail to amaze me.

Didn't Erma Bombeck say that trying to keep your house clean while your kids are young is like shoveling the sidewalk while it's snowing.
