Project: Big Boy

I know most three-year-olds are not crib dwellers. But if you spent the afternoon with mine, you would recognize the importance of keeping these two contained as much as possible.
Still, I have promised BIG BOY BEDS for their birthday this month.
We are bracing for the tremors which, most assuredly, will shake the entire household.
And, in the meantime, where can I get bedding and window treatments that are affordable, cute, and, most important, big-boy-proof?>

Ikea! It sounds like a shopping trip is in order. :) I got comforter covers for my boys there that were affordable and cute. I don't know if they have window treatments though...I did get a cute rug that matches the bedspreads and pillows.

I hope we see pictures of what you decide on!

It looks to me like these guys will have their own interior design ideas! Hang up giant chalkboards and give them some chalk.

I almost hate to say it but......Target! We have had really good luck there and it's inexpensive enough you're not devastated if they get 'loved' just a little too much!!

I agree with Oma, I had a friend who painted the entire lower 4 feet of her boys room with chalkboard paint, I think about 3 layers, her little guy had a blast. (The top she painted with stripes, so cute!!!)

Target. Oh, and put a child lock on the INSIDE of their door. We had one on Jaxon's door until just last month, because he would wake up at 5:00 a.m. and WREAK HAVOC on our house once taking a bite out of each peach in a whole flat of peaches.....and that was just ONE thing.... enough said.

Target.

I love this picture!

I hope, "Project Big Boy" goes smoothly.

My sister says that her twin sons brainstorm how to get into trouble...she claims to have, "A Mastermind" and "A Project Executor". It makes for great stories... My oldest son is the, "Project Manager" around here and sends the younger children to carry out his plans.

My thoughts are with you :)

I forgot to mention that my sister's twins are not even a year old yet...she is in for it, huh?

I'm always all over Target. Much to my husband's chagrin. I just can't explain all those high Target entries away on the Quicken.

Ethan was in his crib till he was almost 5. It's all about survival, baby. As soon as he could get out, we had to get a real bed, to save him from falling on his head.

I like Emily's comment the best. Go blog-jacker!

I'd echo everyone else and say Target. I've always had good luck there.

LOL...they remind me of my son! He is 2 and I know I should get a big boy bed too....I am just a little scared!!

Emily! You need a screen name! I want to hear more from you.

My kids sleep in a crib until they are at least four. I prefer to call it a cage. I need them to be contained.

I can't help with the decorating, but I know ikea has some cute stuff. Good luck with that.

Funnily enough I was online looking at bed rail when I switched over to your blog for a break. We are putting Caleb in a big boy bed in the fall, and I know he will need something to keep him from crashing to the floor every night. Do you have any advice on which work best?

Also, go for Target, their stuff is well-made enough to withstand even the most rigorous of kids and they have fun options that change often so you aren't likely to stumble upon the same room in your girlfriend's house. The chalk board paint is a great idea!

I vote IKEA too. Or Pottery Barn kids sale section. Of course the stuff on sale just barely meets the somewhat affordable category to me but there stuff is so darn cute.

Ikea has funky stuff that is cute. Target of course is cute but I think you can get better deals at Ikea.

(says the girl who doesn't live near an Ikea).

That picture is classic! I wish they could pass on a little of their energy on to me. And they get an A for creativity too!!
