Pinewood Derby

"It's a great car, sweetie! I'm so proud of you! You worked so hard building it...now remember, it doesn't matter if you come in first place or last. The most important thing is that you did your best and you are having fun with your friends."
...Pep talk I gave before Pinewood Derby (to Brad)

Jake had a great time at the Derby. He had a couple of 2nd place runs and a few opportunities to learn the art of losing graciously.

We celebrated afterward with fries and shamrock shakes at McDonalds. It was fun until Luke threw up all over the restaurant.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

I bet there are lots of people that head out to the races and throw up after having a few too many. It's cool in some circles. It shows you know how to party. Party hearty Pukey Lukey!

We've got our pinewood derby this week...they just worked on the car today, in fact. We will take a page from your book and probably NOT head to McD's for shamrock shakes.

Did you see James and Becky. I know they had been working hard on their cars. I'm sure Becky had to give Jamey the same advice. Pinewood Derby's are the best to bring the absolute craziness out of dads.

We saw all the cute Despains...I think Jack won a couple of races and Jamey took lots of pictures. They told us the awesome news about Abby! Congrats...

the pinewood derby... one of those activities that means nothing to me now. But as a mom of two boys, I'm sure I'll be living and breathing it. I'll probably be hitting you up for advice in a couple of years.
