A Few Parenting Truths I've Discovered This Week

  1. The best way to get kids to play with something is tell them to clean it up.
  2. If you only serve whole wheat bread and then buy Wonder White in a moment of nutritional weakness, your kids will eat it by the glorious fistful and think you are the best thing since...well, sliced bread.
  3. The best way to get kids to listen to something is whisper it to your husband.
  4. Gambit is a much more enjoyable than Candyland.
  5. Black Sharpie pens have magical power. They can draw on dining room walls. All by themselves.

All by themselves, huh? That is truly miraculous.

I always knew you were the best thing since sliced bread (that was funny) glad your kids were able to discover it again.

LOL so true! Especially the whisper one. They can hardly hear me if I ask them to do their chores. But, if I say something quietly to dad, they hear every last word.

Yikes! A black sharpie. Have you discovered the Magic Eraser? I wish that had been around when I was cleaning up sharpie and crayons from the wall.

I may be the only mother/grandmother on the planet who does not allow Candyland in my house. It is a game that drives me nuts, then makes a big mess to boot. My poor deprived offspring!

Wow, drawing all by themselves is impressive.

My girls like to blame things on their 1 year old brother.

This is a great list. I would add: Kids start getting along when you tell them they have to go to bed.

I think with all those snow days, it's a wonder your babies are still alive. Definitely points for you as a mom.

SO true. You should write a book.

In my kids' dreams they would get white bread. They don't know how good they've got it. When I was growing up, no store-bought bread ever crossed our threshold.
