McCain Wins by One Vote!

No. Not this McCain...

This McCain...

or at least her cookie recipe** won in our very official backyard cookie-tasting contest.

**Evidently there is some scuttlebutt concerning the origins of Mrs. McCain's recipe. Did she get it from a family friend or simply lift it off the Food Network?

I don't know...but look at her. Do you think she has ever actually baked a cookie in her lifetime?

Do you think she has ever EATEN a cookie in her lifetime?

Politics can be very ambiguous sometimes.

We made Michelle Obama's Lemon Shortbread & Cindy's Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies, then passed out samples and let the guests vote for themselves.

Both candidates came out strong. The oatmeal cookies were traditional, the shortbread sophisticated and elegant. But the under-18 crowd was the swing vote and, apparently, butterscotchiness brought them to the polls.

This post made me very hungry! I want you to make me cookies. If I made them they would not turn out the same. I would have voted for yours!

There is no WAY that chick eats cookies!

Yeah...I suspect she doesn't eat her weight in cookies like I do.

What a clever idea!

If Mitt were still in I wonder what his wife would submit?

I just read about this whole fiasco on CNN. I think its so funny that this event even exists. I would love to make these but seeing as my workout schedule has gone by the wayside, I need to reign in the treats.

Shortbread's buttery goodness is for the elite but the masses will always prefer a good butterscotch sugar rush.

This is a FABULOUS idea! Can I get the recipes?

Duh...I don't know why it took me soooo long to see the link...

I so wish you were my neighbor! You are always doing cute and clever things. Even your presentation is, well, Martha Stewart-ish. Love it!!

You know neither one of them has an original recipe, and there is NO way in hell or anywhere else Mrs. McCain has baked anything in her life. She and her husband give me the heebie jeebies. (and I am a die-hard Repub.)

As always, you continue to impress me. I just printed off the recipe and will make these after work, swim lessons, and all-star baseball practice tonight.

Too bad the real elections can't be quite as simple.

Hi Gab! I'm doing a test.
Can you see a heart? ❤
A star?✭ Musical notes?♫
What about now:
A heart? ♡ A check mark? ✔

I'm trying to incorporate some symbols but they don't seem to show up on a computer that isn't a Mac.
