Some Questions

Why am I paying big money for arts and crafts supplies, educational toys and wonderful computer software when all my kids want to do is fold each other up in the old basement sofa-sleeper?

Why does my daughter refuse to wear 75% of her adorable wardrobe, favoring instead her ratty old school sweatshirts and last year's Halloween leggings? And why does this bother me so much?

When will someone invent a litter box for boys 10 and under?

Am I the only person in the world who doesn't watch American Idol? Who doesn't enjoy shopping in big warehouse-type stores? Who fell asleep during Pirates of the Carribean III?

And, finally, have you noticed there are a few naughty words in the scriptures? This morning my daughter was using her first-grade phonics to decode a certain wh word which is used to describe a woman of ill-repute. Should we tell her what it is or just play dumb? And what did King James have against calling a donkey a donkey anyway?

Those are very valid questions. I wish I had the answers...I truly enjoyed reading this :) Despite, not being able to be helpful.

I remember when we were growing up one of my brothers told my mom that, what King James calls a donkey, heh, heh, heh, wasn't a bad word because it was in the scriptures. He felt really proud of himself about that one.

It is so fun to describe harlots and the like to the boys when we read the scriptures.

Just last night when we were reading scriptures my hubby came upon the "donkey" word. He only mouthed it. He couldn't bring himself to be the mouth my kids heard that word from for the first time. Commendable I say!

I also want to know...they can put a silencer on a gun, why not on those loud, scary sounding drills at the dentist?

Gabe (7) and I just read the whole Jacob 2 chapter about those VERY bad men and their wives and concubines...I was quite relieved when it was over.

And I totally care about how much of their wardrobes they wear...I probably shouldn't but I do!

My daughter is the same way -- why wear the cute clothes when an old teeshirt from some yard sale will do just as well? And, I liked shopping at Sam's Club, but I hate shopping at Costco.

I'm with you on American Idol and P of C. And I send my husband to the warehouse store since he gets such a kick out of it.
The first time I read the Old Testament, I thought, "this is nasty". I took a literature class in college about women in the bible, apparently there are only 2 types. Good thing I fall into the virginal/saint catagory:)

1. No sleeper. Can't relate.

2. I have a solution to this. I should write a post about it. It involves bundling and freaking out if a bundle is broken up.

3. See, you don't need pets.

4. Don't watch Idol. Hate Costco. Couldn't understand the dialogue in PCIII.

5. Naughty words are there so I hae license to swear. I'm thankful for small mercies.

I have secret, evil thoughts about "losing " Maren's not so cute clothes so she will be forced to wear the cute ones.

Even though we don't have a sofa sleeper, my boys pretty much forgo the toys and just wrestle each other. Until someone cries of course. Then a time out, then start up again.

I do enjoy a good Costco run. Just went there today in fact.

Did you see the Aladdin costume on my little girl on my blog? She wore that night and day for 2 years until it was shreds. I am not kidding.

I teach Seminary, there's TONS of naughty stuff in the scriptures. They left it in to keep people awake and interested. Read Leviticus some time....rated X. Flat out nutso crazy!

The only thing we should invest in is boxes and balls. Nothing else will satisfy a boy completely. Amen.

PS. Hate shopping altogether, no matter where.

I had daughters like that, too. And sons. A few "lost" items were discovered behind the dryer. After years of clothes fights, I just let the youngest wear her doll's coat and her tutu everywhere.

Oh, girl. This post was for me. First off, I have had many a bad word pointed out to me in the scriptures by my zealous children. "MOM! They said hate!"

AND, I am SOOOOO struggling with Jane and the clothes issue right now, too. UGH! I'm secretly throwing out those ratty clothes when she isn't looking. She has a smashing wardrobe and she chooses the nastiest, ugliest clothes. It is KILLING me!

I DO NOT watch American Idol. Or anything on tv, for that matter (except Masterpiece Theatre, of course) and I DID NOT even watch Pirates of the Caribbean III.

So, we really are soul-mates. Or something like that...

PS: Don't have a Costco card or a Sam's Club card.

I have to admit to losing some of the less attractive items of my kids' clothes. Out of sight out of mind!

I'm with you on the litter box for boys. Ewww. I'm hoping maybe by the time he's ten I don't have to clean up around the base of the toilet any more. Wishful?

All good questions!

I wish I could help you on the clothes things but at this very moment there are numerous amounts of darling clothing in my children's drawers that they will not touch. My son refused to wear anything a collar and I didn't learn that until I had boughten him lots of collared shirts. I hate free agency. I want to force them to do what I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good question...why DON'T you watch American Idol!?

I love American Idol and I love Costco. But... I DO HATE when my kid won't wear what I think he should wear. He had nice shirts and wants to wear the ones from last year where the head hole is too small and they hurt to take off! Kids are so weird that way!
