An Open Letter to My Sisters

Dear Nim, Heed, Min & Mom,

Right now the entire contents of my kitchen and laundry room are stacked precariously in the dining room. There is a dumpster in my driveway and a jackhammer blasting away somewhere downstairs. I have a major case of early-morning-fatigue-syndrome. My husband's out of town, yet my kids still want dinner every night and clean clothes every morning.

I have a purple bathroom and an unfortunate new haircut.

Suffice it to say, the thought that I will soon be boarding a plane and sitting poolside with you is serving as my own personal drug-free mood stabilizer. I cannot wait.

Don't forget to bring: photos of your kids, your latest book recommendations, cast-off jewelry you think I will like, some really cheesy chick flix, self-tanner, nail polish and a big old Ziploc of Muddy Buddies.

Topics for group discussion: millennial mothering, spring fashion trends, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, improving spirituality, technology-pros, cons & how-to's, what to do with a purple bathroom & bad haircut.

Love you girls! See ya'll in 48 hours.

Color me jealous. Can you hear me pouting from there?

I would like a conference call to discuss "The Help."

BEST. BOOK. EVER.

Loved it so much I cried when it was over, and now I find that nothing else fits the bill. Might have to read it again.

I just did a sisters weekend last week. We've been doing it since 1991 (My husbands sisters & sisters-in-law--there are 8 of us.)

The Help is a must discussion.

We watched North and South (Elizabeth Gaskill, not John Jakes) last weekend together. It rivals Pride and Prejudice.

Have fun!

I'm so jealous. Sisters and sister trips are the best.

Gabi, I haven't had a haircut in 6 months, am frantically looking for a swimsuit and have a mile high pile of laundry on my bed.
It's definitely time to get out.

Thank you for letting us read your open letter...

I wish I were one of your sisters...hang in there, Gabi...in 48 hours it will be blissful...

I know...why is it our kids think they should be able to eat and wear clean clothes?

okay...that's it. i'm planning a sister trip RIGHT NOW!!! There is nothing like a sister/mom trip to keep you "stable".

The Help was excellent. I couldn't put it down and read it in 2 days. Why can't more books be that good?

Ah, sisterly bonding. It's so therapeutic! I'm happy for you... you AND your 'periwinkle' bathroom.

Have fun!

I think I would fit right in and there needs to be an older sister in there...where should I just show up?

Oh, let's have a blog discussion on the Help. Loved it, have lived it!!!!

I just went to Whole Foods and bought gourmet goodies for the trip. The checkout guy said, "Whoa. That's a lot of sugar. This is a health food store." I said, "It's for a sistas getaway." He nodded sagely. "I hear ya," he said. I almost invited him.

Ask Oma if she has ever had the KIND granolish bars. They are various nuts and fruits, my fav is apricot/almond (probably because I grew up in a almond/apricot orchard)they are SO YUMMY and addicting and even a little healthy!!! I got them at Whole Foods in the aisle that has cereal,

I'm back to blogging and apparently so behind. You're moving?

Fun and crappy all at once.

Why I picked our current house: 2nd floor laundry room, huge pantry & mudroom. Seriously, it is all about the work spaces.

I've never done a mom and sister trip. I should.
