Payback

Dear Dad,

Remember my "F" in 8th grade Algebra? Remember the time I had salmonella poisoning? Or measles in Disneyland? How about the broken arm fiasco of 1981?

Remember the time you came to check on an innocent sleepover and found me in a van with a questionable crowd? Remember the day(s) I wrecked my car(s)?

Remember the worries? The stomach aches? The desperate prayers?

Did you ever wonder if I'd grow up and get it?

Well, I did and I do. And, today? You totally got me back.

Glad you're OK. Love you! Just don't let it happen again.

Your concerned daughter,
Gab

p.s. You're grounded.

Parents should not be allowed this kind of payback. It's too scary and worrisome.

So sorry to hear about your dad but I"m glad he's okay. Payback should not be allowed, at least not in the form of scary health things.

So are things like this part of that whole, "Circle of Life" thing? First we give them gray hair and then later in life they give us gray hair?

I'm glad it looks like he will recover well. Your poor mom with the stalled out car...and a toothache...and her husband in the hospital because of a severe heart attack. That truly was a horrible day.

Oh, Gabi, that's rough. I hope things turn out okay. No fair on the payback.

What a scary thing. And an especially helpless feeling when you are so far away! I am sure you just want to be with him right now. We'll be thinking of you and your family!

That absoultely stinks. I'm glad your dad is in good hands and got to the ER in time.

Blech. Parents are supposed to live forever, right?

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad he's okay--I hope. I don't know, however, if he's QUITE paid you back yet for the questionable crowd in the van.

You just joined the sandwich generation, smushed between worries about kids and parents! (We'll try not to cause too much more trouble.) Thanks for all your prayers and love.
