Humbled

Is there anything scarier than watching your child fight for breath? If there is, I don't want to know about it.

Last night I was reminded again how helpless a parent can be. Since asthma is dominant on both family trees, I panicked when Sam struggled for air last night. Thankfully, Brad had flown in only an hour earlier and was able to bless him, calm me, and make a midnight visit to the ER. It wasn't an asthma attack, only a really bad case of croup.

One nebulizer treatment, one dose of steroid, and--most importantly--one official hospital bracelet later, Sam is home and breathing easy.

Thank Goodness.

YIKES!! That IS super scary. I am not so fond of those reminders of how tenuous life can be. UGH! I like to think we are all invincible. Glad everything is ok and that hubby was home. SO grateful for the priesthood.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I've been there and I know it is so scary. I'm so glad your little Sam is ok. It sure can rattle a mom's nerves!

We have lived that experience too. It is terrifying. The ER seems so far away and you just feel so helpless.

Your son is so precious! I bet you can't think about anything else. I am glad that he is fine and happy with his new bracelet.

I cannot believe you were up late with that last night, taught seminary this morning and still took the time to answer(nicely) all of my stupid emails! You are not only the best mother and friend, but you are sincerely a wonderful human being Gab!

Oh, Gabi, I am so sorry. That sounds like a horrible way to spend an evening. Thank heavens for modern medicine, no?

That is so scary! I remember having nights like that with Bryce's asthma when he was much younger. An awful feeling.

I'm glad Sam is doing better!

Little things remind us how vulnerable we really are. It's terrifying to remember we're not in charge! It was reassuring to hear his cute voice, "Hi Oma. I got a bracelet from the hospital." You deserve some kind of bracelet, too--but of diamonds, not plastic.

That is the cutest little face! I'm so glad you had your husband home. Like you, I'm so grateful for the power of the Priesthood as well as the medical advances that make things better so quickly.

I hate feeling helpless like that. Thank goodness for the priesthood and ERs, huh?

My Jackson has asthmas issues and I know what you went through. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

I hope the little guy is on the mend!

I am so glad that everything is okay. Life and perspective can change in an instant, can't it?

Thank heaven for the priesthood and worthy husbands who can utilize it.

Oh no! That helpless, panicked feeling is awful. Our littlest had a fever induced seizure when he was about a year old and stopped breathing. It was so scary!
I'm so glad your little guy is OK.

Coming in late, but no, I haven't found anything scarier than a child struggling for breath. We have one who had a myriad of problems her first year with her airway being the biggest and boy, I hate that feeling. Glad he is better.
