Halloween: The Wrap-up

World Series? Check.

Halloween? Check.

And, if I can just make it through two more days of robo-calls and TV ads, the Election will be over and I will be an official survivor of this fall's most torturous trifecta. It has all been exciting, exhausting and more than a little nauseating.

(I am ready for peace, serenity, calm and ....Christmas shopping?! Oy vey.)

Halloween 08 did not disappoint.

In my humble opinion, this holiday should always be held on a Friday and it should always be followed up with turning the clocks back. An extra hour of sleep is a beautiful thing.

Unless, of course, you live with a couple of clowns who did not get the sleeping-in memo.
(My latest inspiration: early morning Seminary for preschoolers! Why not? They're up.)

Direct quote from Em this morning: "Sam, come in here. You can beat me up."

Direct quote, 6.5 seconds later: "Waahhhh! Mom! Sam's hurting me!"

The week has been filled with our family traditions--the dinner in a pumpkin, cockroach jello, ghost cake, jack-o-lantern carving, school parades, neighborhood pre-trick-or-treating party, Mom eating all the Snickers she can find, Dad getting everybody all sugared up and then leaving town to stay in a JW Mariott somewhere far away.

Boo!

You are a way better mom than I am.

You rock. Seriously. I am loving the dinner. Loving the clowns. And I totally agree about the Friday and Daylight Savings. For us it was even one step better because church is at 1:30. A GREAT lazy weekend. Good times.

You just reminded me that I still have one or two snickers left in my stash -- excuse me while I go remedy that right now!

Everyone looks darling--especially your pair of clowns!

What do you serve in your pumpkin?

I agree about the DST, A. seemed to be up even earlier. I DID like Halloween on Friday night--who can we talk to about making that the regular deal?

My teeth already hurt from all the candy I've been sneaking from A.'s jack-o-lantern. Must stop.

Love the cockroach jellow! Yum! Why are preschoolers always up at the crack of dawn?
We just assumed everyone knew about daylight savings so didn't mention it last night. This morning my 10 year old woke up my 13 year old and they both got showered and dressed for 9am church by 7:45. Poor things they were ready before I was even awake.
It sounds like your house had an awesome Halloween. Thanks for sharing!

You are a great mom. Love those costumes and the double clowns are delightful.

For the record, dogs are like preschoolers--they don't get the daylight saving memo either. But it was still great to have that extra hour before church today!

Your kids look so fantastic!

Oh, my kids would dig the cockroach jello. I simply must try that...next year.

"Oy Vey" is right...I quoted your clever opening to your interview for Laurie (don't worry I gave you credit by saying "I have a hilariousl blog frient that said"...)Anyway...You said it best...it is all downhill form here and YES, I do want to pull the covers over my heat until the ball drops!

Oh my gosh, great costumes! I don't see a Target one amongst them. Someone needs to send OUT the clowns, I think.

Whoa, did you make the twins outfits? WOW. Looks like tons of fun!

I haven't see a clown costume for years! I love those old-fashioned costumes.

Thanks for the comment on my blog about the time change. I would have totally forgotten and been really mad about showing up for church an hour early.

I agree with you on all of it. Early morning seminary for preschoolers is BRILLIANT!! Submit it...you never know...

The kids all look great!

I would give you ALL of our snickers in a heartbeat!!

I never though Halloween as a parent would be so fun.

Halloween on Friday was wonderful. I bet the teachers loved it too by avoiding sleep-deprived, over-sugared children.

Oh goodness. The husband's away during the final step, the election. I think we should have a giant mom party on Wednesday.

Great costumes. The witchy fingernails are the greatest touch.

I would freak out seeing the jello. I totally miss the bags of candy sitting around after the kids are in bed. The whole celebration looks like a kid's Halloween dream come true and a mummy's nightmare before Christmas!

I use to make dinner in a pumpkin when I was young and had energy. This year we had take out.

Your kids look great. Love the twin clowns.

I LOVE the clowns! Nobody does clowns anymore and they are so, so cool.

I'm sitting here eating my milanos (favorite cookie ever...how did you know?) and listening to my Christmas tunes. Shhhh...don't tell my husband.

Thank you SO much for the fun prize. I love getting mail-especially with treats. You are awesome!

That mummy costume is fantastic. We have a bowl of candy leftover. I take out all the chocolate and the kids get the Smarties and Tootsie Rolls. I love my kids but not enough to waste chocolate on them.
