Violated

My camera has been stolen.

Along with a twenty dollar bill and maybe a couple of ones.

I can't really blame anyone but myself, of course. I mean, if you are dumb enough to leave your purse sitting in the front seat, with the doors unlocked and the windows down, you are practically begging some young guy to help himself to the contents of your minivan.

(I am assuming that the thief is a male, because any female crook worth her salt would have totally taken the bright red leather Coach bag and adorable Brighton wallet... oh! and the hot pink Razr phone.)

So, really, I am pretty lucky, as far as crime victims go.

Still, I am so so sad about my camera. It wasn't fancy or anything...but since I started blogging, it has become my constant companion. Always at the ready for a beautiful sunset or a silly smile. In fact, I had a whole buncha photos all ready to download and post on tonight's Weekend Wrapup.

You'll just have to use your imaginations...

This is a photo of me and the three boys staining the swingset.
X
This is a shot of the boys grinning & covered with stain. Looks like a bad self-tanning accident, huh?
X
Here's Brad building a fence around our woodpile. It's awesome! He's awesome!
X
This is Em playing goalie at her soccer game. Go Squeege!
X
Here I am looking very tall, slender, tanned and windblown under the crabapple tree. In case you are wondering, I did design and sew that cute Lilly Pulitzer-type sundress by myself. That is also a Martha Stewart 7-layer chocolate cake which I baked from scratch. And the cocker spaniel is the twins' early birthday present...we named her Pumpkin.
Just hope the camera bandit enjoys it...

I would feel violated too! :0( So sorry about your camera...but more about the loss of the pictures that were stored in the camera! That stinks!

Somehow I find even your posts about a stolen camera highly entertaining. LOL Sorry about that. It does suck that your camera is gone but I love your descriptions of the photos in it. Hope you're able to get a new one soon.

I would have totally posted that last picture of me, too. And I would make everyone comment on how I'd miraculously lost 30 lbs overnight. Soo glad your purse isn't gone, sorry about the loss of your camera. the two things I constantly worry about losing are my Chanel sunglasses and camera!

You crack me up! I'm so sorry about the camera. Such a super bummer.

Did you really get a cocker spaniel? I think that's the next dog we'll get. Some day.

No puppy. No Lilly dress. No chocolate cake. Just a whole lotta poetic license. (The camera is really missing, though...)

Bad luck, Gab! So sorry. The thief will certainly enjoy the pictures especially that last one!

As I looked closely at that phenomenal picture of you I also noticed that there was nary a wrinkle or blemish either. And those diamond earrings are spectacular! Where oh where did you get those Fabulous sandals?

Whew on the purse, bummer on the camera. The good news is that now you can upgrade.

I'm sorry about the theft of your camera & cash.
I have bad luck with cameras myself.
We took a cruise to the Bahamas a year ago, and I had taken many beautiful pictures. The camera was on me at all times! Until I dropped it off the side of a Tiki boat into the ocean, on our way to go snorkeling. My camera now sleeps with the fishes.

My friend just had her camera and wallet stolen out of her car, while the children were in the car! Her car was parked in the garage. She was just happy that her kids and car were left!

swesome 7 layer cake and hand sewn outfit!! I should misplace my camera as well, so that I could, umm, have time to make such great things ;)

so sorry about your camera, you're right about the theif being a boy though, I would have seen the appeal of the coach bag ;)

Thats bad! I can envision your pictures perfectly though. I just noticed the amazingly yummy cookies too-love a good cookie experience!

I'm sorry about your camera! I've misplaced mine and I'm going crazy without it.

My heart skipped a beat when you mentioned a cocker spaniel puppy, but my heart stopped when I thought about the 7 layer chocolate cake.

You should "Mom Your Ride" a little more, then when they open the car to steal your stuff, they'll be repelled by the toxic smell of milk and crushed french fries and won't want to take your stuff.

I did get totally excited thinking you had gotten a dog. Now I feel violated.

You are taking the theft of your camera much better than I took mine. We were on vacation last summer, I left my bag at a restaurant--my fault, I know. But we called and they said they had it, so we drove back about 100 miles and retrieved my bag. My wallet was still in tact, minus about $10, but my camera was gone! I was so sad!!! And I figured some punk probably just immediately erased our memory card and there you go.

I am over it, but if I think about it, it still makes me sad.

oh but just think of the possibilities now. i just finished camera shopping for my bday, and i cannot tell you what an improvement i find in using a better camera. the old one wasn't bad, just familiar. let's look on the bright side here... now you can move ahead and get that nice new canon rebel everyone else has.

in the meantime, if you need me to come work a little smackdown on a thief, just say so. i'll ruthlessly hurl my 120 pound frame at him until he falls. then i'll beat him down with your coach bag... granny style.

gab, you always make us laugh.. even when you've been violated!!! what a shame. i am so sad that your tiny handy camera is gonzo. that truly sucks. i hope you can get a new one in time for Blogapalooza. geez, down with theives. man, what a bummer. sorry, gab!

Wow. You really did lose the 15 lbs all of us are threatening to lose for BP. I'm jealous.

Sorry, I know about leaving all your valuable stuff with a note saying "Hey, Lucky Thief, here's my car, $500 cash and all my identification. I won't be back to check on my valuables till tomorrow morning, so enjoy."

(see my post from the beginning of Oct 2007...)

Yikes! Sorry for the not so petty theft--cameras are vital parts of life and of course, blogging. That bonehead jerk.

Love your last imaginary picture--hilarious.

I hope the burglar takes a look at the pictures (or not...hmm...kind of creepy) & feels so guilty! I know, guilt is probably not his cup of tea. But still.

So, so sorry. That stinks.

I kinda want a new camera...maybe I could leave it on the roof of my car??

Definately a Man-Thief!

You look sooooo skinny in your picture!

That last picture of you is fabulous! A stolen camera is the ultimate violation! I'm so sorry! Please get a new one before the big party!

I feel totally violated FOR you. I had my car broken into once too. Guess what they stole? My battery! HOW STUPID! I think it was the drunks next door.
I'm so sorry about your camera. Just think of it as a great excuse to get the latest and greatest one out.

I am breathing a sigh of relief for the purse, but the camera is so tragic - mostly for selfish reasons. I love your photo stories and am very upset with this thief. I hope karma finds and punishes them accordingly.

I'm so sorry! Great post, though! So clever! I've got 5 of the 15 lbs lost for BP. Have you ever heard of anyone 5'0 tall losing 10 lbs in one week. Yeah, me neither! Shucks!

Ilene said...

Why are people so mean? Polite theifs should at least leave the memory card.

Well, at least frequent blogging leads to frequent downloading of pictures so I hope you didn't lose too many memories.

Ahhhh! I would die if my camera was stolen! I am so sorry to hear about yours. But I thought you looked amazing in your imaginary photos! :)
