Brad likes his oatmeal in a different form...
The perfect oatmeal cookie recipe is his own personal Holy Grail. And I think, this weekend, he came pretty close to perfection.
Religious Experience Oatmeal Cookies
Preheat oven to 375. Combine 1 3/4 cup flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt in a small bowl. Beat 1 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 sticks butter and 1/2 cup white sugar until creamy. Beat in 2 eggs, 2 Tbsp. milk, and 2 tsp. vanilla.
Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in 2 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats, 2 cups chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped nuts. (You may need to add a little extra flour if dough is sticky.)
Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheets and bake for 10 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet, then cool on countertop.

Amen Brad! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to try them!!!!!!!!
I am totally going to try this! Yum!! Thanks for the comment you gave me back!
Mmmmmmmmm! Sounds delish...even better that he is the one making them!
Wow, those look so good. I like my oatmeal in both forms. A bowl and a cookie.
I think you need to bring these to blogapalooza!
We talked about religious experiences today in Seminary. We talked about fasting, answers to prayer, being touched by a testimony, feeling the spirit while in nature.
I completely forgot to bring up oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, I obviously did not have the spirit with me this morning. Maybe you need to send some so I can feel the spirit more closely.
I'm with Brad - I like my oatmeal that way too. I'm definitely going to try his recipe. Thanks for sharing it!!
Brad has got it all right. Oatmeal should ONLY be eaten in cookie form. It's disgusting all mushy and gross in a bowl. I will be making these today for sure!
Thank you Brad. Having Gabi post this was a true public service.
Thank you for the recipe...and the picture makes me want to lick the computer screen.
The, "religious experience" title was fantastic!
Does he do the dishes too!!!!
I agree with Diane. Blogapalooza cookies PLEASE!!!
Oh, those looks SO good. I love oatmeal choc chip cookies and I think that on sunday I will be needing to have a religious experience.
Yum, yum, yum. And, I was just looking for a recipe to use up some oatmeal - you are a genius!
