Pinewood Pride

Oh yes...it is that time of the year again.

Meet the "Black Cobra" #19...and second place winner in the Bears division.

If you look closely at the other winners, some of you might recognize the Bear on the right.

He's Jake's second cousin, Jack!

This is my handsome cousin James. He and his family live an hour away...but because there aren't a lot of Mormons in our neck of the woods, we see each other at church & Scout things once in a while.

The above photo freaks me out, because instead of Jamey and Gabi, I think we look just like Uncle Jim and Aunt Marty (our parents).

I'm sure Grama June and Grampa Jiggs are smiling down from heaven to see their descendants still hanging out together. (Especially since they took home the trophies!)

(And Brad's pretty thrilled too...)

Nice work! and look at the patches and awards on that shirt. I'm shamefully behind on sewing (pressing) those babies on my son's shirt. You've inspired me....

How fun that you have a cousin reasonably close. Way to go on those wins. I hear there is a special glue you can buy to use on patches instead of sewing. I am all over that come scouting time for me.

After reading posts about the horrors of Pinewood derby, I happy to see the lack of issues in yours!

Wow. I'm just impressed at the styling uniform all tricked out. I guess none of those badges are stapled on, huh?

As for the blogiversary, have a party. Or a contest. Or fly your favorite blogger out to meet you (that would be me).

Would you like to sell or rent your car to a bloggin' buddies son? Last year I ordered a pre-cut car online. And yeah, I thought that was the most challenging part. Needless to say his wheels weren't secure so they came off in the first couple heats until we super glued the axles into place. And yes, apparently I blew it on the weight part as well. That's why it's very very very important to have a father OR member of the household that is involved in cub scouts activities AND enjoys this handyman stuff. YUCK.

And P.S., I finally figured out last week that I AM BURNED OUT after three years of Cub Scout activity. I used to be SOOOOOOO into Cub Scouts. I slept, breathed, and spent almost every waking moment doing some type of cub scout activity (Wolf Den Leader 1st year, CubMaster AND Bear Den Leader 2nd year, and Bear Den Leader this year). I am so over it. I want a break! Unfortunately now, I've changed to a church pack so my den leader position is a CALLING, not just a volunteer opportunity that I can resign from.

You know that white plastic thing on the front with the beads? Our ward took everybody's away because they came from China and have toxic levels of lead. Just thought you might want to know.

We had our PWD this weekend, too. Thank HEAVENS we didn't win first. Nobody wants to go to district and spend hours racing people you don't know. All I wanted was for the cars to go down the track without coming apart.
