Life is Like a Cookie Swap

You show up with your little plate of goodies, feeling like you've brought something special...

until you see what everyone else has made. And, suddenly, your offering doesn't seem so wonderful. You wish you had something prettier or more delicious to share...

but then you wander around and everyone shares what they've brought. You offer your treats freely and sample a little of everyone else's specialties. You're glad that everybody has brought something unique to the table...

...and you leave with a lot more than you brought!

Thanks, Helena...this is one of my favorite traditions!

Yummy. And what a great analogy. I will never look at cookie swaps the same now.

There's nothing I love more than a good cookie swap. Too bad I don't often look at my own life with such zeal. And those brownies look AMAZING!

OK I've just got to get on it and make those blog brownies! Looks yummy and fun. I need to con one of my girlfriends into hosting a party like that. Some day my house will be big enough and I'll do it. Until then, I'll have to bribe. Maybe I should try using the blog brownies!?!?!

I can't believe your own special brownies got co-opted by the bloggers. It is taking over the world.

Thanks for including the food photos. I'm glad it isn't at my house or it would be gone!

Cookie swaps are the absolute best--for my sweet tooth and social gene, not my rear view. Love your thought about leaving with so much more than you brought--so true!

Isn't it funny, though... I always feel like the second I get home, the cookie plate from the exchange looks disgusting. Just like a bunch of old food or something. Maybe it's just me, as that plate looked great.

Got your cutie-pie card today!

Rochelle...This is why you are so skinny and I am not. You think the cookies look disgusting. I eat them no matter what they look like. I wish I could be more like you!
