Some Thanksgiving Leftovers

Brad is "Da Man" when it comes to road trips. The eight-hour drive was a piece o' cake for me, since he would rather watch 24 successive hours of Lifetime tv movies than let me have a turn at the wheel. Also, now that we have GPS, I don't even have to pretend to read a map! With the kids strapped in place and their favorite music/movies playing, all I had to do was eat cashews and read, read, read. Who says road trips are tough?

Wonder Twin Power...Deactivate!

We stayed in two little cabins on a mini pond right in the middle of Ohio Amish farm country. The living quarters were "cozy" and the temperatures very chilly. So the cavemen stepped it up and warmed us up every day at the firepit. They would sit out there for hours at a time, wearing their designated "fire clothes". S'mores, anyone?

Jake found his inner caveman as well...indoors.

Tango was a "bonus" freebie included in our stay. He had only three legs, so we nicknamed him "Tripod." Tripod felt the need to follow Christie and I on our Thanksgiving morning run. Stie denies it, but she is a dog LOVER and worried more about our little puppy followers than her almost-dead running mate. Tripod was milking her sympathy by trying to lose another leg via an Amish buggy or minivan...whichever came first.

Hannah & Emily were the lone little sisters, who represented all their girl cousins well...by paddlin' their own boats and...

shoppin' with their moms!

Highlights of the trip included a visit to the cheese factory, bowling, movies, shopping, playgrounds, paddleboats, eating to bursting and staying up at night playing "Black Magic" and "Blurt!"

Our li'l turkeys did a whole lot of gobblin'...and we loved every minute!

(Christie has a better camera and a little more photography experience, to see the trip from her lens, click here!)

Your trip looks really fun. How refreshing to mix it up a little and go somewhere new!

Next year you should really spend Thanksgiving in No California. I know where you could eat....

Sounds like a blast, cozy cold and all.

My two favorite things:
"wonder twins...deactivate!" (perfect caption; made me snort)
the photo with Josh in the little ear flap hat (pricelss)

LOVE your pictures! They turned out so CUTE! I laughed out loud at the twinkies tipping over in the car. That is just too priceless. It was seriously such a fun trip. We're all still talking about it 'round here. Miss your darlings a ton. We'll totally have to do it again sometime!

Looks like so much fun! Some day I will visit Amish country. I kind of like the idea of enjoying Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant...

How fun! My hubby is just like yours. I haven't driven to Utah in years. He will drive for hours straight and never get tired. And isn't it funny how once you have the GPS, you can't imagine life without it? We have them in both cars, and I'm so spoiled. Mine's been acting up lately and it's KILLING me. As though I've always had one. ;-)

You're trip looks SOOO fun. What a blast!

No. There was no Cheesecake Factory. Hello? Amish country! It was a CHEESE (Swiss, Gouda, Cheddar and Head) FACTORY...

I forgot to tell you. We have the same car. Parallel lives.

I say next year you should stay in So. Cal- I know where you could eat....and I will be serving your Sausage Stuffing (had it, YUM, YUM, YUM) and the Back to School Bacon Wraps were a hit as an appetizer...
oh and I have the same car too...though yours looks cleaner on a road trip than mine does day to day. Scary!
