Dear Little Sister,

Thanks so much for coming to my rescue this week! Ten days of single-parenthood would have really thrown me into a psychotic state. However, your talent for seeing beauty in the ordinary and humor in the everyday kept me looking at the bright side of life.

You are Mary Poppins, Rachael Ray, Claire Daines and Oprah all rolled up into one adorable package!

Please do not let anything you saw here this week discourage you from having children of your own. I honestly believe that your offspring will NOT throw tantrums, make messes with the sofa cushions or poop. They will certainly not be as loud and boisterous as my crazy gang. I think your future children will probably be very sedate and docile. You know...like their dad.

(Besides, you won't have four kids all at once anyway. You'll kind of ease into it. Babies usually just come one at a time--unless you hit the old 'twin jackpot' as two of your three sisters have done--and what are the odds of that happening?!)

You have taught me so much this week. Thanks for kicking the old gabblog up a notch with your tech-know-how. Thanks for introducing me to ramekins. Thanks for making this dessert in the ramekins. It is truly amazing that I have lived 37 years without ramekins in my life. You've made my home a better place.

Thanks for the laughs and late-nights, the stories and sing-a-longs, the hugs and the heart-to-hearts.

Just remember, "I'm peanut butter and you are jelly and we're so happy on our little piece of bread!"

Come back soon!

Love, Your Crazy Older Sister

Ok, so I totally have to try that recipe. Wanna come over? If only...

Greg informed me today that he's heading to New Jersey next week. I said I wanted to go (yea, right!), then Gab and I could do lunch. But, alas... I have 4 kids, one of whom has strep throat. Yea, that's my life.

Marta IS the best. She's not even my sister and I love and adore her. One day, if and when she does want kids, she will make an excellent mom. Until then, she's the best auntie a kid could ask for.

I'm realizing that the comment I got from your sister, was probably you? (I should have realized I was too mommish for some hip non-mom to check and comment!) Not that you're not hip. You are. Plus lucky, because your little sister is so fun and talented.

I think Marta benefitted from all the people raising her. How lucky can a girl be to have six siblings, AND a mom and dad telling her what to do?

I have little sisters. While they are helpful, I don't know that they would ever stay with me for ten days. You must have done something right when they were growing up. Lucky girl.

Yeah, when my sisters are overwhelmed by my 4 kids in 5 years they just tell themselves, that would never happen to ME! Go ahead and tell yourself that, ladies.

Oh yeah, my sisters won't stay in my house longer then 1 hour, unless I delay dessert.

oh gabi, thank you thank you! [and yes, i have the peanut butter and jelly song in my head and sang it to dan while i was getting ready this morning. unlike your twinkies, he soon got sick of the little tune that i didn't know all the words to and turned on morning radio to drown me out!]

you failed to mention all the SWEET things you do to add to my crazy fun mommy training vacations. such as the must-stop h+m shopping spree, the fun outings, the late night cable tv (seriously an indulgence for me), the girl talks, the delicious desserts, the gourmet meals, the trip into the BIG city.

it is always so fun to step out of my life and into yours. thanks for letting me in. i learn so much and know i will someday be a better mom because of your example. visiting your place is my MTC: mommy training center.

your litle songs to get their shoes on, the laughter when something goes terribly wrong, the roll off your back method, your cheerful attitude during breakfast and dinner (the toughest times in the day), your bopping to Disney Radio.. you have sacrificed your life and have made it UNBELIEVABLE. you never wallow or whine, you are a good sport and a good friend, a good wife and a super special, special, special sister.

how lucky i feel to spend time with you.. and p.s. thanks for introducing me to your FABULOUS bloggy friends. i will be perusing theirs more often.

That was such a sweet tribute. Aren't sisters the BEST!

p.s. We LOVE the Peanut Butter and Jelly song at our house. My favorite part: Please forgive me for my stint with honey...I looked at the label and not at what was inside!

Priceless! (and somewhat typical of the male type don't you think!!!)
