I am proud to announce that my oldest child is the winner of the local Superkids Soap Box Derby!
This great event was sponsored by local businesses and opened to children with a variety of special needs. My guy participated in several heats and won each time!
Now he is eligible to compete in the national derby this summer in Akron, Ohio!
The awards banquet was Monday night. Local businesses donated food, door prizes, t-shirts, goody bags and gold medals for all participants.
We are very proud of our winner!!

How fun! I didn't know that there were real soapbox derbies. I thought they were only in the movies! The Boy would adore doing something like that! Did your husband and son built the racer together?
That's so cool! Way to go! Off to Ohio for you I suppose.
Way to go, Jakeman! Go get 'em in Ohio - you're the best!!
congrats! that is so exciting... it looks like lots of fun.
Way to go J! We thought it was so cool to hear about you winning the race. Our family will be rooting for you in Ohio.
Wow, if you guys can build a soap box car that fancy, I can't wait to see what you do to a pinewood derby car.
Congrats on the victory!
We can't take credit for the awesome car. It was already built...but trust me, if my husband HAD been allowed to build one it would have been even better!!
YEAH!! Go Jake. How fun and what a great event put on by your community. The pics are fab.
I LOVE it!! That's great! Love Super Kids. Ethan did basketball last year! So great.
How exciting for you guys! Congratulations to Jake!!!!
When Jake was 4 months old his mom laid him on the floor and he rolled over. We all marveled, and then he rolled over again. Within minutes he had rolled all over the room. This was a kid with places to go!!! He's been on the move ever since. I'm so proud to have a mover and shaker for a grandson. He'll go FAR!!! I hope he takes me along on some of his great adventures!!
